This is a pre-flight image of the EUVE spacecraft in a clean room at Goddard
Space Flight Center (GSFC). This image clearly shows the major components of
EUVE:
(1) The Science Payload (top) which was designed and built at the Space
Sciences Laboratory at the University of California, Berkeley. The
three stacked scanning telescopes are visible.
(2) The Explorer Platform (EP) which was designed and built by the Fairchild
Space Company at GSFC. The EP is comprised of the Payload Equipment
Deck (PED; middle) to which the solar panels are attached, and the
Multiple Mission Spacecraft (MMS; bottom) which houses the attitude
control, power regulation and communication systems.
